VEIL / Mesh node

Off-grid.
Within reach.

A pocket mesh node made to go with your phone. Slim, magnetic, and being built from the board up.

Part of the VEIL hardware series.

First prototype boards are in manufacturing. The H5 enclosure is ready for its first fit checks. Board bring-up, range, battery life, phone fit, and on-device firmware operation still need physical testing.

Inside the latest design

Everything
has its place.

The H5 enclosure brings a flat lid and rounded rim to the mesh node. Inside, the custom board, battery, internal antenna, and temperature sensor fit around the magnetic mounting system.

The new lid retains the H4 base and button, with access to USB-C, the power switch, status LEDs, and reset. It is designed to print flat-side down without supports; the first physical fit check is still ahead.

The magnetic base is designed for a compatible phone or case. Retention and camera clearance still need testing. The magnets provide mounting, not wireless charging.

A few things to know.

Is VEIL only a mesh node?

VEIL is a hardware series. Alongside this mesh node, a 2 m / 70 cm ham radio is in design. Explore the VEIL series for more as that project develops.

Can I buy the VEIL mesh node yet?

The first prototype boards are in manufacturing. There is no release date or preorder; assembly and bench testing come next.

Will it run Meshtastic and MeshCore?

Separate custom targets compile for each ecosystem. Physical flashing and operation on a VEIL board remain untested. You choose one firmware; the two networks do not interoperate over the air.

Will it work with my phone?

The design targets magnetic phone mounting and a Bluetooth companion connection. Phone and case fit, retention, and application compatibility still need testing. Initial board programming requires SWD.

How far will it reach, and how long will it run?

We haven’t measured range or runtime on a physical VEIL node. We’ll publish test conditions and results in the build log when those measurements exist.

Is the enclosure waterproof?

No waterproof rating or water-resistance testing is established. The current printable enclosure is an engineering prototype.
