# VEIL H20 enclosure — prototype print bundle

Published October 2, 2026 · H20 geometry r1 / PETG support settings r2

**EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPE — NOT A FINAL DESIGN.** These files are a work in
progress, not a production-ready enclosure. CAD and slicer checks have been
completed; the H20 flush antenna fit, thin edges, hinge durability and revised
support finish still need physical testing. Dimensions and parts may change.
No weather sealing, RF improvement, or broad phone-fit validation is claimed.

This enclosure fits the **custom VEIL prototype PCB**, its 403050 battery and
the specified antenna/magnet arrangement. It is not a universal MeshCore or
Meshtastic case. The bundle contains printed enclosure parts only; it does not
include a PCB, electronics, firmware, battery, magnets, antenna or screws.

## Start with the small sample

Open `3MF/00_H20_RECESS_SURFACE_TEST_PETG_r2.3mf` as a **project** in Bambu Studio.
It prints the upper lid section to check the supported recess surface and
support removal: approximately **29 minutes / 3.34 g**. It is a surface sample,
not a complete hinge fit test. Let it cool before removing supports.

If the sample is satisfactory, choose the project you need:

| Project in `3MF/` | Contents | Slicer estimate |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `01_H20_LID_ONLY_PETG_r2.3mf` | Replacement H20 lid | 55 min / 9.89 g |
| `02_H20_LID_CAP_UPGRADE_PETG_r2.3mf` | Matching lid, antenna cap and sliding backing | 1 h 2 min / 11.18 g |
| `03_H20_COMPLETE_CASE_PETG_r2.3mf` | All six assembly parts | 2 h 8 min / 27.49 g |

Times include slicer estimates, not measured prints. Open the project and review
the printer, plate, filament and Preview before sending a job. The files were
sliced with Bambu Studio 2.08.02.61 for a **Bambu P1S, 0.4 mm nozzle, textured
PEI plate, one Generic PETG spool**. Select the physical spool you are using.
One filament is assigned to every part; no prime tower or color swaps are set.
The preview color is illustrative; these projects can use clear PETG.

## Parts and orientation

`STL/` contains the same six assembly meshes, in millimetres, plus the sample:

1. `01_H20_base.stl` — magnetic phone-side base.
2. `02_H20_lid.stl` — lid with the matching antenna recess.
3. `03_H20_antenna_carrier.stl` — rotating antenna cap.
4. `04_H20_antenna_backing.stl` — flexible sliding antenna backing.
5. `05_H20_button.stl` — USER button.
6. `06_H20_side_slider.stl` — side power-switch slider.
7. `91_H20_hinge_test_lid.stl` — upper-lid surface sample, not an assembly part.

Keep the saved orientations: base phone-face down; lid and antenna cap exterior
face down; backing flat centre down; button face down; slider finger-pad down.
Only the lid/sample uses supports. The small button and slider use brims in the
complete-case project. STL imports do not carry these print settings: use the
3MF projects for the prepared P1S setup, or configure your own printer carefully.

## What changed in r2

Geometry is unchanged from H20 r1. The support profile is intended to reduce
sagging in the antenna recess:

| Support setting | Original | r2 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Top Z gap | 0.28 mm | 0.20 mm |
| Top interface spacing | 0.50 mm | 0.25 mm |
| Top interface layers | 2 | 3 |
| Interface speed | 80 mm/s | 30 mm/s |
| Support body speed | 150 mm/s | 80 mm/s |

Retained: normal/snug supports from the build plate only, 0.35 mm XY clearance,
0.24 mm bottom gap, 0.12 mm layers, 0.16 mm first layer, 255°C nozzle and 70°C bed.
These are experimental VEIL settings, not manufacturer-prescribed settings.
Closer supports may be harder to remove. If plastic tears away with them, stop
and revise the settings instead of assuming a smaller gap will improve finish.

## Compatibility and assembly

The H20 lid and antenna cap must be used **together**. The H19 base, backing,
USER button and slider are unchanged and can be reused. Earlier bases, including
those with both lower screws close together, are not verified. For a new build,
use all six matching parts in this bundle.

The nominal shell is 64 × 96 mm, 10.2 mm rigid thickness / 10.4 mm with the
0.2 mm phone-contact film. The raised slider increases the width to 64.8 mm.
The board is on the left, battery on the right, with bottom USB-C access; the
connector remains offset from the case centre. The new cap is designed to sit
flush with a nominal 0.35 mm seam and a concealed retaining tongue at its free end.

Dry-fit without electronics first. Clear supports and first-layer burrs, check
that the cap sits level and the tongue engages, and check smooth movement.
Sweep the cap sideways to open it; do not pry upward against the tongue.
The intended travel is 0–90 degrees. There is **no hard stop**: do not rotate
beyond 90 degrees. Thin cap edges and tongue retention need real-print checks.

Fasteners: two top case screws **M2 × 5 mm**, two lower case screws **M2 × 6 mm**,
and one pivot screw **M2 × 6 mm**, all self-tapping from the chosen small-screw
assortment. Pilots are 1.7 mm; no tap or printed threads are required. Head
recesses are 5.2 mm. Measure the actual heads and lengths before assembly;
assortments vary. Start gently and do not overtighten. The pivot must allow
rotation instead of clamping the cap solid.

The magnet pockets accommodate the measured ring (54 mm outside / 46.51 mm
inside / 2.5 mm thick) with approximately 0.5 mm adhesive, and a 6 × 15 × 1.5 mm
alignment magnet with approximately 0.5 mm adhesive. A 0.2 mm contact film
protects the phone. Confirm your magnet dimensions before using adhesives.
The mount is magnetic only; charging uses USB-C.

Power down and disconnect USB/battery before moving electronics. Keep the
antenna on the moving cap and slide the backing into its rails. Route the coax
between the battery and board with a gentle service loop at the pivot. Do not
pinch or pull the coax/U.FL connector. Check the complete swing with the real
cable and check that screws, magnets and printed edges cannot press into the
battery before closing. Charging/thermal validation and cable fatigue testing
are separate from these CAD checks.

## Verification and feedback

Source meshes and exported 3MF placements were checked against the H20 geometry.
The projects were sliced, checked to fit the P1S bed, and checked for a single
filament assignment. Generated lid supports do not enter the concealed tongue
slot or side-slider track. These digital checks do not establish physical fit
or a finished surface. No physical H20/r2 print is claimed by this release.

The images in `Preview/` show actual CAD geometry in opaque green for clarity,
not photographs or a prediction of clear PETG appearance. `SHA256SUMS.txt`
contains checksums for every other file in the bundle.

When reporting a print result, include **H20 / PETG r2**, printer/nozzle,
material, settings you changed, and photos of the fit or support surface.
Keep this revision together: future revisions may use incompatible parts.
