Using the tools

Saved radio preferences and configurations use your browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes those saved settings. Firmware builds send the selected configuration, custom splash, callsign, and preset messages to the RF Splatter build service to create the requested firmware.

Location and repeater searches

Searching by city or ZIP code sends that search to a geocoding service. Using GPS asks for your browser’s location permission. Repeater queries use the build service and RepeaterBook; maps use third-party map services. Your chosen location may be saved locally for the next visit.

Website analytics

RF Splatter uses PostHog for usage analytics and error reporting when configured. This can include visited pages, device/browser information, and actions such as building firmware or searching for repeaters. The email signup form is excluded from automatic interaction capture.

Optional VEIL emails

If you request email updates, Resend sends a confirmation message. You join the VEIL updates list after confirming your address. We use that list for VEIL development updates. You can stop future updates using the unsubscribe link in an update email. Your email address is not added to browser analytics events.

You can follow the RSS feed without providing an email address.
